In March, our rabbi of 5 years informed us he was stepping down. This information came as a shock, and sent our small congregation into a whirlwind. With the encouragement of my Board of Directors, I am determined to make this year a great one.

We invite you to join us in the mission of keeping reform High Holy Day services in the Temecula/Murrieta area. Our former rabbi graciously offered his services at a discounted rate. Since he has stepped down, we are now faced with paying a Student Rabbi a higher rate. Being a small congregation, our resources are limited. However, including our extended Jewish community in our goal will greatly help. If we are able to reach our goal of $5500.00, we would like to hire a cantor for High Holy Days for the first time in 4 years!

We are hoping that by offering a wonderful High Holy Day experience we will be able to add a few new members to our congregation.

My name is Cassy Klein and I am the president of Congregation Havurim. I have been a member of this congregation since we moved to Murrieta 13 years ago. I have been on the Board of Directors for about 10 years now. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this congregation. The members are some of the most amazing individuals I have ever met. When our rabbi stepped down, I was devastated. I had no idea how I was going to save this small congregation from folding. After all, how can we ask for membership dues if we have nothing to offer? With the support of my amazing Board of Directors, they encouraged me to contact HUC to get a student rabbi. Now, I want to give something back to my Board, our members and everyone that supports Congregation Havurim. They deserve to have an amazing High Holy Day experience, and offering a cantor along with helping to cover some of the added expenses we will incur with a new student rabbi would be the way to do that.
