Letter from the Pinsk-Karliner Rebbe
ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE ABOVE LETTER OF APPROBATION FROM THE PINSK-KARLINER REBBE
I am writing these words that flow from my heart on behalf of the great, wonderful Joseph family of Jerusalem, of whom with a sad heart, the righteous mother has been suffering with a very challenging disease, that so unfortunately, has caused her body to shut down and all of the familial burdens have been shifted onto their father, Reb Moshe, (he should live and be well), who is bent over under the mighty weight of these troubles , without any possiblility of escaping the situation without the help of all of our Jewish Brethren. The level of their troubles is not able to be described in a letter. Blessed is the almighty who gives strength to those lacking strength and comforts with a special power to alleviate troubles.
I am coming now to request on behalf of their righteous daughter, Rivka, (she should be well), who has been blessed with all of the world’s finest attributes. She has overcome the difficulty and challenge that has been place upon her from the day she was born and with the kindness of Hashem, has grown gloriously and has been a successful educator of girls in an extremely humble and proper fashion. This young woman was born with a serious blemish in her heart. For many years I have merited to be involved in this case and many doctors have been consulted regarding her issue without any success. Now, Baruch Hashem, an expert doctor in Boston has been found and is prepared to take on the case and perform the difficult surgery to repair the defect. With Hashem’s help, she will be able to get married and raise her own children amongst the House of Israel.
It is understood that without the tremendous aid of our righteous Brethren’s financial help this surgery will not be able to take place.
All Jewish Brethren are merciful of all merciful. Do not let a day pass on this important Mitzcah. This Mitzvah includes saving a human life. And also it is helping support the broken hearts and spirits in this family. Happy is each person who takes part in this great Mitzvah, and without a doubt each person will merit from this Tzedakah immeasurable blessings. The fruit and the fruits of this mitzvah shall be in this world and will be established forever in the World to Come.
Rivkie was born in Jerusalem with a congenital heart defect called TETRALOGY OF FALLOT. She has always known that she would need surgery to correct it once she stopped growing. She has managed for 20 years with a heart that pumped at around 60% efficiency.
B”H The doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital saw Rivkie at the end of March and gave her an excellent prognosis for the surgery: Not only do they believe it will be successful, but they believe that they will not need to put in an artificial valve, which would necessitate Rivkie having to take blood thinners for the rest of her life. This would make having children dangerous.
However, the doctors have told her that her heart is only operating now at around 40% efficiency. This means that there is not enough oxygen for her body and her cardiac muscle as well. Soon her heart will be damaged and THIS IS DAMAGE THAT CANNOT BE REPAIRED! RIVKIE NEEDS SURGERY IN THE NEXT 3 TO 6 MONTHS.
Please Note: Rivkie is now 20 years old. She is from a Chasidishe Family that are followers of the Pinsk/Karliner Rebbe. Because of Tzniut(modesty), a current photo of her is not being posted on this campaign. Rivkie worked at a Chabad Camp in Minnesota last Summer. This is where the connection was made with Chabad of Greater St. Paul.
