When my husband, Brandon, and I made aliyah from South Africa three years ago with our four girls (all under the age of six at the time!) we were fulfilling a lifelong, Zionist dream. We came here ready to begin a beautiful new chapter. Part of that new chapter was the realization of another dream – opening up a coffee shop in Jerusalem, that would be a unique, vibrant and empowering place where the community could come together, connect, work, play and share in the love of amazing coffee. A much needed destination for the local Jerusalemites. From this, Power Coffeeworks was born. We roast all of our coffee in-house and grind fresh per cup. our coffee does not sit in Silos for weeks, it is rotated daily and our customers taste that. Our coffee sommelier and master roaster, Brandon, is creating new blends all the time. We currently offer 11 varieties of dark and light roasts and our cold brew is a favorite in the Jerusalem summer heat.

Brandon and I put our whole hearts into Power Coffeeworks every moment of every single day. It is our passion and of course our livelihood. So it was truly tragic for us when last week, we were robbed. While we have security camera footage of the event, it has not led to any arrests yet. Our two, top-of-the-line coffee grinders were stolen, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage and loss.

Our hearts are broken…we honestly don’t know if we will be able to keep the doors open, but we remain hopeful. With a new baby on the way, Brandon and I turn to our communal family for support. That’s why the whole Power team are asking for help – your help. We still believe in our dream, now we need your help to keep it alive. Anyone who has been to Power Coffeeworks knows that it is a special place: rustic, real and uncompromising in authenticity and quality. We believe in providing the best for our customers because that’s what Jerusalem deserves. As for our staff – well we all know your Name! For those who haven’t been, maybe you can relate to having a dream and putting your all in every day to make it a reality – and fighting for it. Please open your hearts (and your wallets) and give what you can. Am Yisrael Chai
