On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, tragedy struck again in Israel.
In one of the deadliest attacks on Israeli soldiers in recent months, seven young IDF soldiers were killed in Gaza when a militant affixed an explosive device to their armored vehicle in Khan Younis. The blast engulfed the vehicle in flames, and despite rescue efforts, none of the soldiers inside survived.
Among the fallen was 21-year-old Staff Sgt. Shahar Manoav from Ashkelon—a courageous soul, a devoted brother and son, a soldier who gave his life defending his people.
This Is Not the First Time This Family Has Faced Devastation
Just months ago, in October 2023, we rallied together to help Shahar’s family after their home was severely damaged during the fighting with Hamas. Their lives were turned upside down, and your generosity helped them begin to rebuild.
Now, that same family is facing unimaginable heartbreak—the loss of their beloved son. What was once destruction of property is now destruction of the heart. This tragedy is far greater, and the need for support is more urgent than ever.
Why We’re Raising Funds
Shahar’s family is now enduring the devastating emotional toll of grief—on top of financial strain from years of war and recovery. Your donations will directly help them:
- Cover funeral and memorial expenses
- Access grief counseling and trauma support
- Stabilize their housing and daily needs
- Take time to mourn without additional financial stres
This is an opportunity to honor Shahar’s sacrifice and show his family they are not alone. Let us lift them up as they face life without their son, a hero of Israel.
Shahar Died a Soldier, But He Lived as a Light
He was part of the IDF’s 605th Combat Engineering Battalion, riding in a “Puma” armored vehicle on an active mission when the attack occurred. His life was taken far too soon, along with six brave comrades:
Lt. Matan Shai Yashinovski, 21
Staff Sgt. Ronel Ben‑Moshe, 20
Staff Sgt. Niv Radia, 20
Sgt. Ronen Shapiro, 19
Sgt. Maayan Baruch Pearlstein, 20
Staff Sgt. Alon Davidov, 21
We remember them. We honor them. And today, we come together to care for those left behind.
