The Jewish Innovation
LIGHT SONG is brought to you by Jewish artists and educators in Los Angeles, director Melanie Zoey (Why I Dance) and producers Ronit Aranoff (Seeking: The Series) and Rosie Moss (Lifetime’s Fall Into Me). Our artistic team includes composer Ben Stanton, vocalist Allie Feder (Pitch Perfect 2), and DP Alana Fickes (The Empowerment Project; Why I Dance).
This is our LIGHT SONG – and our battlecry – that girls’ voices matter. If you believe in creating Jewish content that celebrates female voices, join us. Contribute shekels, spread the word and get in touch with us at chanukahlightsong@gmail.com! We love to hear from you, and are so excited to start building our LIGHT SONG community.
The Impact
The Jewish holiday videos that go viral are typically made by Jewish boy bands, like Maccabeats and Six13. While we appreciate and enjoy these videos, we are emphatic that it’s time to create Jewish viral content that elevates and celebrates female voices, too.
LIGHT SONG is a music video and docu-series that celebrates inclusivity, belonging, and female voices at a time that it is sorely needed. Fortunately, girls’ voices are now being celebrated online in tangible ways at HelloGiggles, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, Wifey.tv, and Makers’ Women, to name a few. As much as we intend to bridge partnership with Jewish online media outlets, such as the Jewish Journal, Tablet, Kveller and more, we are also excited at the possibility of our video reaching a more global feminist audience this Chanukkah – and sending an accessible, joyful message about Jewish inclusivity and celebration of female voices.
