Ethiopian-Israeli students have become double victims of Covid-19. Not only are they are at risk of catching the disease just like anyone else, but now they’re faced with not being able to continue their studies due to the lack of a computer.
Distance learning has replaced classroom study, and those without a computer or the resources to purchase one will see their efforts to rise from poverty and achieve financial independence go down the drain. Even as classroom learning is being restored in some places, those without a laptop will continue to be at a distinct disadvantage.
This campaign by the Forgotten People Fund puts Ethiopian-Israeli students on a level playing field by supplying students with laptop computers and essential software. Its laptop program has been in existence for several years, but in the present situation the demand for laptops has exploded.
Unfortunately, the resources of the Forgotten People Fund are limited as it is simultaneously extending emergency food and other aid to distressed Ethiopian-Israeli families who have lost their source of income.
