The Jewish Innovation
The Jewish Family Channel is a hub of viewable entertainment that promotes the Jewish culture and celebrates the diversity of Jewish traditions and experiences. We are distributing high-value Jewish content that focuses on the pop culture of Judaism.
We are looking to generate an initial amount of $7,000 to fund the launch and publishing of premium, Jewish-themed content on Roku, a streaming home entertainment player for TV.
The Impact
Some of the titles we are airing include “Sexy Beijing,” which is a “Sex in the City” type-show that focuses on a single Jewish woman living in China. We are also featuring reality programming like “Mitzvah King,” which is an uncensored look into the making of high end bar and bat mitzvahs. We are also featuring a library of critically acclaimed films from prestigious film festivals from all over the world. And that is just a small sample of content we have secured.
We have secured rights to 50 hours of programming for the channel from content creators and independent Jewish producers who have created shows about Israel, conventional dramas, reality and lifestyle programming, classic Jewish-themed TV shows and movies, and lots of children’s video content and music. We have produced shows about Jewish artists, and are producing shows about Jewish designers, musicians, restaurants, geography and travel.
We have also developed and produced more than 20 original programs for parents, children and families. These are 20 short-form, ready-to-air, fully mastered children’s and parenting programs. We are also re-purposing Jewish children’s music and books into videos, and aggregating existing children’s entertainment to build a library of niche and meaningful programming.
You will be able to see all of this great programming on a streaming set-top player called Roku, www.roku.com. Roku offers subscription-based programming like Netflix, and you can enjoy tons of free movies, shows, and music, all on demand. Home entertainment is experiencing a revolution; various analysts project that by 2015 digital video consumption will make up a global audience of 1.2 billion viewers.
Jewish Family Channel will initially be free for the first six months then we will move to a subscription-based model with an annual fee of $9.99/year.
We will replicate this model and create a multiplier effect on additional streaming sources like Google TV, Apple TV, Boxee, and apps, engaging a larger audience.
What Will You Do with the Money?
We are looking to generate an initial amount of $7,000 to fund the digital channel launch. We are reimagining Jewish-themed home entertainment – help us be a part of this innovative platform. We are deeply grateful for any support.
We have a goal of creating a library of 75 hours of programming. Overfunding the campaign will cover production costs, operational expenses, licensing and distribution. We will also use these funds to replicate this model on additional streaming sources like Google TV, Apple TV, Boxee, and apps, creating a multiplier effect.
After an initial philanthropic investment, our revenue model indicates monetization from advertising and sponsorships will cover expenses within the first year. We will segment our audience based on viewing behavior and look for the best ways to engage and monetize each viewing experience, and create even more programming.
