We are commanded in the Torah (Exodus 23:10-11) to “leave the land…” so that it may rest for the 7th (shmita) year. But as farmers in Israel, we have an opportunity to continue growing in a system where crops are not grown in the ground. Under supervision from המכון למצוות התלויות בארץ, seven years ago we erected hothouses that enabled us to grow crops and supply our customers with food grown in observance of Shmita – letting the land rest. It was a huge undertaking, but was made possible by contributions from our customers and people like you that wanted to help keep the mitzvah of Shmita
