Libby is a beautiful four year old girl – the youngest sibling to 3 brothers, who lives in Sydney, Australia. Everyone who knows Libby, loves her to bits. She is an outgoing, clever, playful, strong and sweet little girl. And she is the world to her family and friends.
Libby was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma at the age of 3. Since diagnosis in August 2015, she has undergone intensive chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, a bone marrow transplant and immunotherapy. The Nagels were in the midst of celebrating the completion of all this treatment, when Libby’s routine post treatment scans revealed a sizeable secondary tumour in the front of her brain.
With the aggressive nature of her cancer the Nagels have had to take urgent action and are moving overseas to receive specialist treatment for Libby’s very specific condition (affecting approximately 40 kids worldwide per year).
The current treatment overseas has a 80/90% survival rate, a far better statistic than local treatment can provide. Relocation and seeking this treatment is the only choice for the Nagels. This will give Libby her best chance. Her only chance.
The emotional and financial burden on the Nagels is massive. With a family of 6, travel costs, medical bills and an uncertainty of future income, the Nagels need us. They need all of us.
