The Jewish Innovation
Some friends and I began to envision a better way for people to meet and share meaningful and enjoyable experiences, primarily through Shabbat meals just like we had in college.
We started to imagine — what if an app existed that helped people meet and make new friends at Shabbat meals.
We quickly built a beta test — WeMealApp.com — and shared it with some friends. To our excitement, our friends have been thrilled. (200+ have signed up so far) And, we believe we can really change the way Jews meet.
Together, we hope to change the way we meet new people and start new friendships. These friendships will strengthen our Jewish communities, one meal at a time.
The Impact
As we meet, laugh, and bond together in small groups without political or religious affiliations, we listen to each other’s opinions and share perspectives. We build friendships with mutual understanding and trust. These friendships enable us to focus on mutual goals.
The more we trust each other, the more united we become, and the stronger we will be as a people.
What Will You Do with the Money?
Currently, our beta web app allows you to create a meal, invite friends, and decide who is bringing what. We know there’s so much more we can do to enhance the way people meet in real life. And, we want to.
Our target is $9,800. The money will be completely used to develop the web app. I am not “paying myself” with this money. I have been working with freelance software developers who I hired through elance. The money will be used to pay them and a designer for their work.
