Provide Cool Relief For Our Soldiers:
Our IDF soldiers (Chayalim) shoulder our national responsibility each and every day (whether or not they appreciate the scope of their own personal contribution.) At present they are on the borders of Israel sweating out the summer heat. Let’s send them the cool relief they deserve, and the message that it was provided by those who appreciate their contribution and support them. Together, we will realize Ari Fuld’s vision of sending a bit of comfort to our dedicated soldiers who invest hours, days, and years into securing our land with tremendous sacrifice (… and discomfort.)
Background:
The Cool Collar is a new wearable cooling technology innovated and manufactured in Israel. It was originally designed for outdoor recreation and tourism, for people to beat the summer heat when touring or visiting theme parks, zoos, stadiums, outdoor live events…etc. (product information is available at www.coolclub.cool) Ari Fuld HY”D took it to China last June, where it is sweltering during the summer. He enjoyed the product so much, that he decided that he had to get it to the soldiers, as they were always at the forefront of Ari’s mind. His thinking was that soldiers would both benefit and appreciate the Cool Collar the most, because of (i) the long durations of time they spend outdoors, (ii) the heavy vests and equipment they need to wear and carry, (iii) the importance of their being alert and focused, and finally, (iv) heat contributes to their state of physical and mental exhaustion on a constant basis during these months.
Ari initiated the Cool-A-Chayal campaign last summer about 1 month before his life was prematurely taken by an Arab terrorist.
This past Tisha B’Av we handed the IDF soldiers donated Cool Collars, and will continue to do so throughout the summer. Beyond the incredible relief from the heat, the soldiers are so appreciative and moved to know someone is caring for them when they received them. Last summer the Cool Collars caught the attention of the national police. The police expressed interest in the product and asked that the Heller Institute in Tel HaShomer review the product. Upon review they concluded that the Cool Collar will defer heat exhaustion by up to 13% and enhance both cognitive skills and physical stamina (that are otherwise compromised in heat) by up to 10%. So in addition to contributing to a soldier’s comfort, the product also improves focus, alertness and reaction time when on guard duty.
