SHALOM AND WELCOME. MY NAME IS BATSHEVA.

I am a lifelong performer of Yiddish and Ladino music, and Israeli and liturgical, Jewish folk. I combine all of these together in concert, celebrating and preserving our precious heritage. Imagine, a course in Jewish history, culture, comedy and music – all in one night!

THE MUSIC

I have compiled a new collection of songs for my next album. If it’s anything like “I, Batsheva, Singer”, my first record – my hope is you will play it over and over…for your guests and for your families and friends. You will smile and you will remember. You will laugh, you will cry. This is soul music. Music of the Jewish neshama.

THE IMAGERY

Music and pictures. It’s hard to imagine one existing without the other. My music conjures imagery in the spirit of artist, Marc Chagall. An award-winning crew will be with me in Toronto, Canada to film as we weave together music and stories. It is our intention to bring a short, documentary to film festivals around the world, sharing our heritage with the largest audience possible.

REACHING PEOPLE

With only a minimal online presence, I have reached an international audience. I was guest artist and speaker at the Litvak Days Conference of University College London and the Lithuanian Embassy. In Israel, I gave a concert for The Center for Jewish Heritage at the University of Tel Aviv. With the assistance of this campaign, my hope is to grow and foster my online community so that I can continue to be invited to perform and reach new audiences around the world. Already, nearly 300,000 people have played my music on Youtube. With a new website and a greater social media presence, we can reach so many more.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

For some time now, you, my audience, have been asking for more music, stories and imagery. Please join me on this journey, and together we will bring this music to our people all around the world.

BATSHEVA is a Jewish folksinger in every sense of the word. She is a musician, award-winning songwriter and a concert artist with an extensive repertoire and knowledge of songs in Ladino, Yiddish and Hebrew. Batsheva also writes comedy in English and Yiddish. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada – Batsheva has been touring the US, Canada and worldwide for many years. She has appeared in Israel for the Israel Broadcast Authority show “Shevet Achim.” She can often be heard in Israel on Kan Radio on the Avi Etgar show, on Raquel Zucker’s Yiddish radio show out of Winnipeg, Canada and other Jewish radio shows in the New York area. She is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee and tours under the auspices of the Institute of Southern Jewish Life. In 2019, The Center for the Performing Arts at Kent State University presented a ballet created from three of her classic, translated songs of Leonard Cohen, in Yiddish, Hebrew and Spanish/Ladino. Batsheva wrote text, sang and performed live. In 2018, she appeared to a capacity crowd as guest artist of the Cymbalista Center for Jewish Heritage at the University of Tel Aviv. That year she also appeared as the closing speaker and artist for the “Litvak Days” conference in London, sponsored by University College and the Lithuanian Embassy. Batsheva was signed to the Golden Land Agency in New York under Musical Director, Zalmen Mlotek. She appears with Eleanor Reissa, Bruce Adler, Adrienne Cooper and others on the Arbeter Ring, signature album “Mir Trogn a Gezang”. Most recently Batsheva signed with Avi Hoffman and his "Yiddish Kayt Initiative" who will tour her shows all over the US and abroad.
