After the latest chemical attack in Syria killed almost 100 people, is the world FINALLY ready to intervene in the largest humanitarian crisis of our generation?

In late January, the news broke of Israel’s plans to bring 100 Syrian orphans into Israel to be adopted by Israeli families.

The nonprofit organization, Amaliah, now seeks to ensure the fulfillment of this program!

Amaliah is now fundraising for #Amaliah100, where the proceeds will be used to fund the logistics and arrival to Israel of 100 Syrian children, who have lost their entire families to the war in Syria.

A child from Syria brought to Israel through Amaliah's "Bus of Angels" program.

A child from Syria brought to Israel through Amaliah’s “Bus of Angels” program.

Why is Amaliah the right organization to take on this mission?

  • In 2016, Amaliah convinced the Israeli government to allow them to pilot the “Bus of Angels” program that brought women and children by bus from Syria to outpatient clinics in hospitals in the north of Israel. After its success, the Israeli army took on this mission that brought thousands of Syrians into Israel for lifesaving medical treatment.
  • A short movie about Amaliah’s “Bus of Angels” received over 7 million views and 80,000 shares worldwide. Media attention to this cause holds the key to its success.
  • Moti Kahana, Amaliah’s founder, grew up in the youth village and orphanage Ben Shemen. He especially identifies with the orphaned Syrian children, and will stop at nothing to bring them to Israel! Kahana has already appeared before the Knesset numerous times to promote the #Amaliah100 initiative.

If this program does not come to fruition, all donations will be allocated to our #Amaliah10k “Bus of Angels” program that aims to provide 10,000 Syrians with medical treatment in Israel, Jordan or Turkey, as well as operations such as the delivery of food and humanitarian aid.

More Ways to Learn About this Cause

We want to thank each one of you for your generous donations and for sharing our campaign with your friends and family.

Most of the the world is not aware that Israel shares a border with Syria, and that Israelis have not remained silent. Its hospitals have treated thousands of casualties and the Israeli people have collected vast amounts of humanitarian aid, and donated thousands of dollars to relieve the suffering from this devastating civil war.

When the news story first broke about Israel taking in 100 Syrian orphans, it received worldwide attention. This adoption program could be a wonderful way to show the world the empathy and generosity of the Israeli people.

At Amaliah we were hopeful but skeptical that it could be carried out. Israel is technically at war with Syria, and there is no immigration plan set up to take in any refugees. However, after seeing how many people supported this mission, we wanted to do our part in convincing the government of the importance of this initiative.

Although we didn’t reach our goal to significantly affect this measure, all donations made to this campaign will be put towards the “Bus of Angels” program, specifically for hearing aids and glasses that are very much needed for the civilians being treated in Israel.

Amaliah has not yet given up on the Syrian orphans. We will continue to publicize the list of hundreds of Israelis who signed up to take in Syrian orphans, and our director, Moti Kahana, will continue to attend Knesset meetings to encourage the program.

Again, we thank you for your support and look forward to keeping you informed of our work. And we pray for the end of the merciless atrocities against the Syrian people.

    With love and gratitude,
    Amaliah

NY, USA

Moti Kahana, born in 1968 in Jerusalem, is an American-Israeli businessman and philanthropist who has donated considerable money and time providing support for the Syrian people. Moti became well-known for rescuing the last Jewish family from Aleppo, and recovering ancient Jewish artifacts, including Torah scrolls, in danger of destruction from synagogues in Syria. He has been called the Jewish Raoul Wallenberg for providing passports to hundreds of Syrian opposition members and their families. Three years ago, Moti founded the organization Amaliah, which is working toward a goal of bringing over a million Syrians back home to a designated "Safe Zone,” an area in Southern Syria on the border with Israel. Amaliah launched the "Bus of Angels" program, which brought Syrian women and children into Israel for medical treatment. A video produced by the media platform NowThis about Amaliah's work garnered over 7 million views worldwide. Amaliah's latest initiative is the Amaliah100, which seeks to follow through with Israel's promise to place 100 Syrian orphans with families in Israel.
