Since becoming a cantorial student, I have been immersing myself in the Jewish liturgy, prayers, and blessings while simultaneously engaging with the vibrant Los Angeles Jewish community and further developing my musical voice and perspective. Lately, I have found myself drawn to writing my own take on some of the familiar (or sometimes less familiar) prayers, trying to draw more personal meaning out of them by contextualizing them in new musical ways.
My songs are an attempt to synthesize a new and deeper connection to some of the words which have been spoken and chanted by untold generations. While it has been a gratifying and humbling experience to write them, my hope is that in sharing my songs, others may be able to unlock something within their experience that draws them closer to their spiritual potential.
The funds I’m raising will go directly toward the cost of recording using studio equipment, compensating any musicians who collaborate, mixing and mastering the audio, manufacturing CDs, and providing marketing materials (art, a website, etc.) that will go along with my album.
The act of setting my songs up for recording an album is a large endeavor that I cannot achieve without the help of my amazing community, so I hope you’ll consider supporting this project in whatever way you can, and I look forward to sharing my music with you!
Love,
Alyssa Rosenbaum

Hello, everyone! I want to report back to you that with the funds raised so far, I have already begun working on 2 out of hopefully 8 tracks to go on this album. Between school and work, it can occasionally be challenging to find the time to continue working on this, but music is ALWAYS a priority for me. With your support, I know I will persevere and realize this dream of completing my album, hopefully within a matter of only a few months! Please keep checking in and sharing this project with any friends who might be interested so we can keep the momentum going!
B’ahava,
Alyssa

Hey, everyone! One of my tracks, a secular song in English inspired by the Yahrzeit of my grandfather, is already completely finished, and I anticipate I will be spending a lot of my time this summer on some of the other tracks as well!
