Welcome to The Living Room! Started in 2017 by a group of millennials, we are a vibrant community in Los Angeles that explores dance and music alongside Jewish ritual. We envision a space where participants feel connected, joyful and a sense of belonging. We are interested in creating a series of dance and havdalah evenings that explore Jewish culture through the mind-body lens. Additionally, we hope to dive deeply into the role of movement in understanding and healing Jewish inherited trauma. These evenings open to people of any age or denomination who wish to join us, and move with us.
What is this Dance/Havdalah series?
We will host a monthly dance/havdalah evening in the LA area, location TBD for 5 months starting in March. Havdalah will start at 7pm and dancing will be led by a dance instructor at 8pm, accompanied by live drumming. We have piloted a version of this project, which you can see more about here. Tickets are generally $12 advance and $15 at the door.
The Living Room is reawakening dance and movement in Jewish culture. We host an ecstatic experience for people of all ages, levels, and degrees of involvement. Our havdalah is led by community member who are passionate about the ritual of concluding the week, marking the passage of time and setting intentions for the week ahead. We work with the best dance teachers and drummers in town to create a joyous, uplifting, unique experience!
Testimonial:
“You are awesome and last night was wonderful. Walked out with a huge smile on my face and spring in my step after a very draining day. We will definitely be back for more events at The Living Room!” – Alisha
