Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas War (Operation Swords of Iron) on October 7, 2023, the lives of over 300,000 IDF soldiers have been changed forever.  Behind these brave soldiers are parents, especially mothers grappling with intense fear and anxiety for their children’s safety.

Recognizing this hidden struggle, Micki Lavin-Pell, a seasoned Marriage, Family, and Trauma therapist, has initiated support groups to help these parents. Her workshops address emotional coping, community connection, maintaining healthy relationships with their soldier children, and essential self-care.

These sessions, initially for Anglo parents, have expanded due to high demand. Now available in both Hebrew and English, they serve a broader community in Jerusalem and the Gush area.

Hanna, an Anglo mother whose 20 year old son is on the front lines. This was hear comment after attending a workshop. “Every night, I lie awake, worried. These workshops have been a lifeline, helping me get a good night sleep, cope better and connect with others facing the same fears. Attending Micki’s workshops for parents of soldiers helps me feel more normal and less alone.”

We need your help to continue this vital work. Your contribution will directly fund these workshops, providing critical support and resources to these families. Every dollar helps us reach more parents, offering them a space to share, heal, and stay strong for their loved ones.

Please act now. Your support can bring immediate relief to these families, strengthening the backbone of the Jewish people in these trying times. Donate, share our story, and be a part of this crucial journey of healing and resilience.

This initiative is in memory of Yakir Hexter z’l – L’iluy nishmat Yakir Yamin ben Yehoshua

Stress and PTSD Reduction Workshop for Parents of Chayalim
Jerusalem District, Israel

As a marriage and Family and Trauma therapist with experience of over 20 years, I have decided to create support groups for parents of chayalim who are emotionally struggling with this war. I know about the impact of trauma on the human spirit and it is my intention to help lift the spirits of these families who are giving so much for the preservation of this country. By conducting these support groups I am creating a safe space for parents of chayalim to share their feelings, feel emotionally held, normalize their feelings and feel connected to others like them and be able to be the backbone of the rest of their family so that they can continue to function as normally as possible during this extremely abnormal time.
