Why Your Support is Important

We are thrilled to announce an exciting historic moment for Paideia, The European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden–we have moved to a new home! In addition to Paideia’s work to nurture the renewal of European Jewish culture and learning, Paideia launched Paideia Folkhögskola just over three years ago.  Paideia Folkhögskola is Sweden’s first cultural college that offers Jewish programming and general adult education courses from a Jewish perspective in Stockholm. This growth has led to the need for a larger space that has the possibility to adapt to the development of both organizations as well as the students and participants.

WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL SUPPORT

This very important project will cost Paideia a total of  $230,000 dollars. We are pleased to report that Paideia has received $84,000 dollars in a government grant designated for the cost of the security measures needed in the new location. Equally as important as a safe space is our need to create a place which feels like home. We aim to design our new home in a way that will provide the flexibility and opportunity for Paideia  to continue to evolve, as well as offer a creative and welcoming learning environment. In addition to the government grant, we have received a generous donation from the Heckscher Foundation for $30,000 dollars which will be put towards our new location. This is a very good start but we still need an additional $115,000 dollars to cover the rest of the costs associated with our expansion including design, furnishings, technology and moving.

WE CAN’T DO THIS WITHOUT YOUR HELP–YOUR DONATION WILL MAKE AN IMPACT!

In order to continue to offer all of our regularly scheduled programming we are asking for your help.  We do not want to interrupt our usual programming by having to shift support to finance our new premises.  By supporting Paideias Room for Jewish Learning with a financial contribution, you are making a direct investment in the Jewish community by enabling Paideia to continue to offer uninterrupted and dynamic programming that engages the curiosity and commitment of all those who are interested in Jewish life and culture.

Can you help us reach our goal of $115,000 dollars for Paideia’s Room for Jewish Learning by making your contribution today?

Paideia-The European Institute of Jewish Studies in Sweden was founded with the vision to nurture the renewal of European Jewish culture and learning, to support cross-cultural dialogue and to promote a positive paradigm of minority culture within European society. Our mission is to actively promote the renewal and flourishing of European Jewish cultural and intellectual life in the wake of the Holocaust and the trauma of communism, to support cultural diversity and to spread humanistic values. We do this through the intensive courses, programs, lectures, seminars, and events that we offer. A cornerstone in our aim is that education be based on openness, democracy and transparency, and the wish to appropriate and draw advantage from a number of different cultures. The education is open to anyone with an interest and capability to add to Jewish culture and to the contribution of Jewish culture to a multifaceted European society. We direct ourselves towards future leaders of Jewish life and intercultural work.
