Ordination is my story about living with my father who was a rabbi and struggled with alcoholism. It is my journey away from and then towards Judaism as a means to cope with results of living with trauma.

It is a one woman show that contains both liturgical and secular music that I have written through out the years.

Ultimately it is a story of compassion, love and recovery.

My name is Rebekah Mirsky. I decided to write my story when a friend of mine started an awareness network for Jews whose family members were struggling with addiction. I realized that I had a story to tell and that my whole life, the good and the bad had been informed and shaped by my father’s alcoholism. I traveled far away from Judaism to come back and become an ordained cantor while helping others who struggle with addiction.
