Rabbi Adam Gindea started his BBQ career as The Chosen Cholent and Smokehouse in NJ. After moving down to Miami with his wife Jessie and daughter Charlie to run Base Miami, the newly branded food truck, Adam’s Rib and Stuff is off the ground and serving the South Florida community.
Base Miami is a program through Hillel International’s Office of Innovation that establishes the home of a rabbi and spouse as a central meeting place for Jewish learning and life. The non-denominational program focusses on engaging the young Jewish professionals of Miami. Everyone is on their own personal Jewish journey. Base Miami is a resource and place to engage in Jewish learning, community service, Shabbat and holiday programs and meals, and meet other young Jewish professionals on their own journeys to connect with our people, culture, practices, and rituals.
Vision:
Our vision is to turn Adam’s Rib and Stuff into a 501c3 with any and all profits going right back into the Jewish community of Miami. The profits will go to support:
- Tomchei Shabbat/Feeding the Needy: Working with local community leaders and synagogues, we will provide food for Shabbat for families in need. We will also organize regular volunteering opportunities with local shelters to serve the homeless.
- Dive Against Debris: Base Miami attempts to organize one SCUBA diving/snorkeling expedition every month to clean up debris and trash harming our coral reefs and oceans.
- Community: The home base of the truck will serve as a place for classes, guest lecturers, community gatherings, special events, holiday celebrations, and all types of programs.
- Base Miami: Using their home, Adam and Jessie host shabbat meals, classes on Jewish texts, traditions, and holidays, educational and experiential Jewish and community programming, and many other diverse types of events and opportunities for the young Jewish professional community of Miami.
