“To recharge, re-energize and be inspired. NewCAJE is a highlight in my life as an educator in a Jewish community. The culture of kindness and sharing I experienced last year at NewCAJE carried me through this entire school year. “
OUR STORY
A few weeks ago, we held a raffle to give away a free conference registration to NewCAJE for educators who wanted to attend but couldn’t afford it. We were stunned to receive 200 entries in just a few days. Why is this? Many congregations cannot afford professional development for their teachers, and the teachers’ salaries are not generous enough for them to pay out of pocket. However, these educators want to refine their skills, bring new ideas to their classrooms, and elevate their careers in Jewish Education. With transportation, this four-day, three-night conference costs between $700-1000 per person.
How can we possibly turn them away?
The Harold Grinspoon Foundation has offered us a matching grant of $15,000 in scholarship funds if we can raise $15,000 from our online community.
We can do this!
OUR CAUSE
NewCAJE9, July 29 – August 1, will bring together clergy, principals, educators, lay leaders, early childhood educators, artists, youth directors, and musicians for learning, prayer, and networking opportunities. NewCAJE is the premier conference for Jewish educators to spread innovation, improve their skills, and enhance their classrooms.
All the money you contribute will go directly to bring Jewish educators to NewCAJE. No one will get a free ride, but we hope that by offering matching funds we will inspire their synagogues and Federations to help them as well. That means every dollar you give is matched not only by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation but also by the teacher and their synagogue and/or Federation. This campaign also raises the status and respect for Jewish educators by highlighting the importance of our work to the Jewish community.
Here’s what some of the teachers who entered the raffle told us about why it was important for them to attend:
“NewCAJE provides a stimulating atmosphere for Jewish Educators, whether they are seasoned professionals or newbies. Attending a CAJE conference is a tremendous boost to my energy as Jewish Professional and I always learn something new to bring back to my school. It’s a wonderful place to meet with colleagues from all over the country, meet with old friends and make new ones. I always savor an opportunity to attend this conference!”
“I went last year for the first time and learned so much! I have used much of the information this year and would love to chance to learn more from the NewCAJE community. Plus, the networking!!”
“To learn, be inspired, and meet others who are passionate about Jewish education.”
“NewCAJE conferences are an amazing place to learn new ideas, strategies, and resources from other Jewish professionals and colleagues. NewCAJE builds a network for Jewish Educators throughout the country.”
