We are asking for your support in the publication and distribution of the memoir of Margalit Edelson. The book is “I Am A Palestinian Jew”.
Margalit was born in 1930 in Jerusalem, Palestine, home to Palestinian Jews and Arabs during the time of the British Mandate.
The book includes this young woman’s eyewitness account of the 1948 birth of the State of Israel and as a teenager, her role in the Irgun underground organization fighting the British.
She writes about her family, the living conditions, Arab attacks, her family’s friendship with an elite Arab family, her school environment, visits to the Kotel, and the onset of WWII, as well as ordinary activities as a child, affected by the state of her environment.
This is a “must read” story to further understand the Jewish experience prior to statehood.
