Our aim with this TV series is to provide yet another means of explaining, raising awareness, and support, for what occurred during the October 2023 tragedy.
Our goal is to create a moving and thought-provoking piece that not only honors the memory of those who were lost, but also inspires action and change.
And mostly bring hope.
Film Synopsis
In the heart of Kibbutz Nir Oz, during the 2023 massacre, ‘Mamad’ tells the harrowing true story of Almog, a young mom caught in a safe room when her neighborhood comes under attack by Hamas. As a barrage of rocket fire intensifies, Almog finds herself in a mamad, which is a reinforced room in a house, meant to shield her from rockets, but it can’t be locked from the inside,leaving her vulnerable to the invaders. She needs to keep her two young children and mom (Savta) quiet so the terrorists won’t hear them, all the while clutching the door handle to prevent the murderers from entering the room.
With limited supplies and communication, Almog navigates a tense and claustrophobic environment while grappling with fear and uncertainty. The film explores her unwavering determination, resourcefulness, and inner strength as she faces the ultimate test of survival. Almog’s courage inspires those around her, and through cell phone communications she forms unexpected alliances with neighbours trapped in the same situation.

WHAT IS MAMAD?
‘Merkhav Mugan Dirati’, also known as a “Mamad” is a reinforced security room required in all new buildings by Israeli law. A Merkhav Mugan is deemed preferable to a bomb shelter when the warning time is too short for residents to reach a shelter, which may be located some distance away. It also offers protection against high impact projectiles and chemical weapons.
A portion of profits/ budget will go to Almog and her family, who suffered a devastating loss.
