Jewish Farmer Network engages Jewish farmers—a group that is largely invisible to mainstream Jewish institutions and organizations—and provided access to the tools and peers that support Jewish living. For many of these farmers, an agricultural lifepath becomes a departure from Jewish life; they struggle to reconcile the two seemingly disparate aspects of their identity. The Jewish Farmer Network helps them integrate their vocation and their tradition, thereby enriching and deepening their Jewish connection.
The Jewish Farmer Network builds connections, relationships, and community with Jewish farmers of all backgrounds: from those who are farming “Jewishly” to those who are completely secular in their work. We do this work through our social media presence, resources on our website, webinars, educational conferences, and individual consultation. In the legacy of the defunct Jewish Agricultural Society (1900-1960), we aspire to one day be able to provide seed money and rigorous training to farmers seeking a Jewish life on the land.
After three years as a volunteer-run organization, we are now fundraising to be able to pay our staff fair wages. Thank you for your support!
