The Jewish Innovation

In 1917 Communist revolutionaries overthrew Russia’s Tsarist government and instituted a totalitarian regime. From that point on, the three million Jews living in Russia were forbidden to publicly practice Judaism. Anyone teaching it was condemned as an “enemy of the state”, arrested by the KGB, interrogated, tortured and then (if lucky) sent to a Siberian work camp or (unlucky) murdered. This is the incredible story of a handful of very brave Jews who practiced and taught Judaism in the USSR in secret, despite enormous danger and constant persecution, until the fall of the Soviet Union and the exodus of the Jews. Incredibly, this amazing story has never yet been made into a film. Let’s do it!

החדשנות היהודית

בשנת 1917 הפילו המהפכנים הקומוניסטים את ממשלת הצאר של רוסיה והנהיגו משטר טוטליטרי.  מאותו רגע נאסר על שלושת מיליון היהודים החיים ברוסיה לעסוק ביהדות בפומבי. כל מי שלימד יהדות  נחשב ל”אויב המדינה”, נעצר על ידי הק.ג.ב., נחקר, עונה ואז (אם היה לו מזל) נשלח למחנה עבודה       בסיביר או (ללא מזל) נרצח. זהו סיפורם המדהים של קומץ יהודים אמיצים מאוד אשר שמרו ולימדו   יהדות בברית המועצות בסתר, למרות הסכנה העצומה והרדיפה המתמדת, עד נפילת ברית המועצות       ושחרור היהודים. לא ייאמן, אבל הסיפור המדהים הזה מעולם לא הפך לסרט. בואו ונעשה את זה!     י

The Impact

The number of Jewish filmmakers seems endless – but sadly, those making dramatic Jewish films can be counted on just one hand. As wonderful as Jews are at telling the stories of others, they’re very weak at telling the story of their own people. Studies show that the average American and Israeli watch over three hours of video a day. The abandonment of this extremely powerful medium has cost the Jewish people dearly and contributed to today’s massive assimilation. We believe the time has come for us to tell our own story! Together we will use the most influential tool for shaping public opinion to connect Jews to Israel and Judaism. Let’s bring the incredible story of  Jewish bravery in Stalin’s Russia to Jews around the world!

Iron Sky is intended to be broadcast initially as a web-based dramatic series. This will consist of some 12 episodes of 5 minutes each. One episode will be broadcast every week for a period of three months on three different websites: Channel 20 (secular), Arutz Sheva (religious) and Kikar HaShabbat (charedi) – all popular news outlets in Israel. We also intend to broadcast the movie on Channel 20. We estimate the series has the ability to reach over 250,000 people. We also plan to include subtitles and broadcast to the English speaking Jewish public worldwide.

מספר הקולנוענים היהודים נראה כאינסופי – אך למרבה הצער, את אלה המייצרים סרטים יהודיים דרמטיים, אפשר לספור על יד אחת. עד כמה שהיהודים נהדרים בלספר את סיפוריהם של אחרים, הם חלשים מאוד בלספר את הסיפור של בני עמם. מחקרים מראים כי הישראלי הממוצעים צופה בשלוש שעות של וידיאו בכל יום. הנטישה של המדיום החזק ביותר עלתה לעם היהודי ביוקר ותרמה        להתבוללות המאסיבית בימינו. עד מתי נשאיר את הכלי העוצמתי הזה בידיהם של אנשים העוינים את ישראל ואת יהדות? כמה סרטים אנטי-ישראליים ונגד היהדות אפשר להוציא עד שנתעורר? אנו     מאמינים שהגיע הזמן לספר את הסיפור שלנו! הבה נביא את הסיפור המדהים של הגבורה היהודית    ברוסיה של סטאלין ליהודים ברחבי העולם

בתחילה, מיועדת ‘שמי ברזל’ לשידור כסדרה דרמתית ברשת. היא תיכלול כ-12 פרקים בני 5 דקות כל אחד. מדי שבוע ישודר פרק אחד, במשך תקופה של שלושה חודשים, בשלושה אתרי אינטרנט שונים: ערוץ 20 (חילוני), ערוץ שבע (דתי) וכיכר השבת (חרדי). אנו מתכוונים גם לשדר את התוכן כסרט שלם בערוץ 20. אנו מתכננים גם לכלול כתוביות באנגלית כדי לשדר לעולם. אנו מעריכים כי לסדרה      זו יש יכולת להגיע למעל 250,000 איש.  י

What Will You Do with the Money?

Five minutes of video costs us $5,000 to produce, so the the cost for the entire project is $60,000. At less than $1 per person, this is a far wiser and more productive Jewish kiruv project than most others – reaching many more people, much more powerfully and for a lot less money. We have already raised sufficient funding for all the pre-production and shooting. All we need now is $15,000 for editing and post-production and the movie is ready for broadcast!  We can do this!!!

עלות ההפקה של חמש דקות וידיאו היא כ-$5,000, כך שהעלות לכל הפרויקט היא $60,000. בפחות מ-$1 לאדם, זהו פרויקט קירוב ליהדות שהינו חכם ויעיל בהרבה מרוב האחרים ויוכל להגיע למספר גדול יותר שלאנשים, בעוצמה רבה יותר ובעלות נמוכה בהרבה. גייסנו כבר מימון מספיק לכל ההפקה והצילום המוקדמים. כל מה שאנחנו צריכים עכשיו זה $15,000 לעריכה והסרט מוכן לשידור! אנחנו יכולים לעשות את זה!!!       י
