The term “Lone Soldier” speaks for itself. Individuals foreign and domestic, seeking a community, a purpose, and a home. While many are successful in this lone mission, it is not made easy by the current systems in place. Systems do not consider innate disadvantages and as a result, vulnerability of unique demographics, such as Lone Soldiers, is growing. Completing an IDF service is an arduous commitment. It is essential individuals feel prepared and supported throughout their military experience, but this is often not the case. Israeli Soldiers have an automatic support system of friends and family to guide them through their army experience. Lone Soldiers do not, and often feel isolated and alienated during their time in Israel. This is not a sustainable reality, a solution must be found and implemented, which serves as the inspiration and motivation behind the for Lone Soldiers, by Lone Soldiers movement.

Led by ML and a dedicated team of former Lone Soldiers, who, following their service, maintained a deep commitment towards the Lone Soldier community. They recognized significant barriers hindering Lone Soldier’s ability to access basic human necessities, which occur in all phases of their service. Since then, ML and his team have dedicated their time and efforts towards becoming a primary resource for Lone Soldier individuals.
  

Day-to-day operations largely consist of assisting Lone Soldiers with finding housing, and ensuring they get connected with the proper housing resources to fulfill their needs. Once a Lone Soldier expresses their need for housing, ML’s team directs them to the appropriate living accommodations, whether communal, or independent and help subsidize the costs through donations raised. Assisting with organizing and communicating logistics such as enlisting the service provider networks, “the partners in impact”, a vast network consisting of lawyers to review contracts, real estate agents, and moving services, who all understand the need for and importance of discounting their fees. The For Lone Soldiers, by Lone Soldiers movement serves as the point of connection between a network of NPO offerings and the Lone Soldiers who need such support to ensure all payments are made and no debts are incurred. Lastly, with a flooded, landlord-controlled, rental market, many Landlords are skeptical of allowing young men and woman, with no family backing, into their apartments, an objection which ML’s team has been successful in overturning through acting as a responsible, trustworthy individuals, committed to maintaining a strong relationship with the landlords as well as encouraging the same between the Lone Soldiers and their landlords.GroWings, is an Israel based, US funded movement that bridges, connects, and funds an umbrella of NPOs, who share the common mission of supporting Lone Soldiers by easing their access to opportunities, services, and resources. Our goal is to ensure Lone Soldiers have the opportunity to experience a successful and meaningful life in Israel during and after their service.
Upon recognizing the need for an organized and strategic intervention, ML developed a network that allows Lone Soldiers to access these much-needed support and services. This network is designed to equip Lone Soldiers with the tools and encouragement they need to thrive in Israel before, during, and after their service. Essentially, this movement, is the driving force behind enlisting our NPO partners, raising awareness within the Lone Soldier community, and most importantly, bridging the overgrowing gaps among the networks of support, for Lone Soldiers, by Lone Soldiers.
