What do your children know about October 7?
Do you know whose voices shape your children’s understanding of October 7?
What will your grandchildren and great-grandchildren hear?
What will your community remember in 100 years about the dark day our people endured?
When a personal story is preserved and documented in an archive for future generations, it is a statement: “Your voice matters and continues to exist beyond time and place. Your story is an important and inseparable part of the collective memory of the community and society.”
The personal stories of October 7 survivors are not just private memories – they are the building blocks of Jewish identity for today and the future. If we do not collect, preserve, and share them, they will disappear.
Edut (Testimony) 710, a groundbreaking grassroots initiative, was conceived the day after the attacks:
- 1,700 filmed testimonies have already been documented, creating a mosaic of personal stories from multi-perspectives of that terrible day.
- Over 700 testimonies have been edited and published, faithful to the survivor’s words.
- Bi-langual designated website.
- Testimonies entrusted to the National Library in Jerusalem have been preserved as the cultural treasures of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
What For?
A solid foundation for education must be built on firsthand testimonies.
In the face of denial, disinformation, and rising antisemitism, these voices must be heard.
They must be shared globally to strengthen identity, build resilience, and provide communities with tools to overcome their struggles, ensuring only the truth is remembered.
Memories fade. Survivors pass away. Today is a moral imperative.
Tens of thousands of residents lived in the Western Negev before October 7. Countless stories remain unheard and undocumented. We anticipate our work will continue for many years.
How We Do It
We are creating the Nexus of Memory – a pioneering AI-powered digital archive, in partnership with the Hebrew University:
- Making thousands of testimonies accessible in Hebrew and many other languages.
- Building educational infrastructure for Jewish communities worldwide.
- Providing researchers, teachers, and creators with a structured, searchable, and pedagogically relevant resource.
But That’s Not All!
In the past two years we have also:
- Launched the Local Security Squads Project – When the home became the frontline, the citizens became the fighters.
An interactive media initiative that immerses viewers in the battles of Western Negev civilians, revealing acts of heroism and human dilemmas. It combines personal testimonies filmed in the areas of the combat, materials filmed on October 7, archive footage, and photographs of the places after the disaster. All of this is presented on a three-dimensional map and along a timeline. - Documented the physical environment through drone footage and 360-degree cameras.
- Delivered dozens of lectures and workshops to raise awareness and give survivors a platform for their stories.
- Created MY EDUT – an innovative platform enabling the creation of ceremonies and lesson plans based on testimonies, personalized and at the click of a button. A living, invaluable resource for education, creativity, and research based on testimonies accompanied by texts, songs, and artwork.
