Building a Jewish Future in Northern Arizona

Congregation Ohr Beharim:  Our Mission

We are creating a thriving Jewish community rooted in Education, Torah, Tradition, indigeneity to Israel, and Connection — ensuring that every Jew in Northern Arizona has access to meaningful Jewish life, regardless of their financial situation.

Who we serve:

• Families seeking affordable Hebrew School
• Families seeking Jewish after-school care and education
• Adults desiring Jewish Education and Jewish learning
• Individuals seeking Jewish Culture and History
• Jewish students at Northern Arizona University (NAU)  who are facing rising antisemitism
• All Jews seeking community, holidays, life cycle events, and spiritual support

OUR 5-YEAR PLAN

With your help, we will:

• Offer low- or no-cost Jewish education
• Jewish after-school care connecting Jewish youth to their Jewish Culture
• Provide confirmation classes for young Jewish adults between the ages of 12-18.
• Support Jewish college students at Northern Arizona University (office hours on campus, evening activities for Jewish Students, Holidays, pastoral care, and more.)
• Host holiday events, community gatherings, and life cycle services
• Donate 10% of our budget to tzedakah to help Jewish families in Northern Arizona and support charitable organizations within Northern Arizona.
• Plan and launch a low-cost Jewish Summer Camp for ALL children (4 weeks Jewish Camp, 4 weeks secular to support our local communities). Possibility of a hybrid day and overnight camp.
• Provide financial support to Jews in Northern Arizona who are in need.

FUNDING GOAL: $1,540,000 Over 5 Years

Rabbi /  Community Director – $130,000
Education/Advocacy Director – $65,000
Teacher – $50,000
Space Rental and Supplies – $20,000
Marketing/Advertising (approx. 5%) – $15,000

Subtotal – $280,000
Charity (10% of total expenses) – $28,000

Total Annual Budget – $308,000

Why it matters:

Jewish life is at risk in underserved areas. Jewish Education and cultural identity are at risk in the diaspora.  With your partnership, we can protect Jewish identity, inspire learning, and build lasting supportive community — starting in Flagstaff, AZ.
