On the first night of the Jewish year, hundreds of Philadelphians will celebrate renewal of life and community in the open air of Rittenhouse Square. We are reaching out to the community for support in continuing this inclusive evening of music and prayer for a seventh year.
Free and open to all, BZBI’s Rosh Hashanah in Rittenhouse Square: RH² is a festival of Jewish song and prayer in the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. For the seventh year, as the eve of the High Holy Days descends and Labor Day comes to a close, the park fills with revelers sharing holiday meals on picnic blankets, with children and adults dancing to rousing live music. There is nothing else like RH² in Philadelphia. It sets a distinct tone of excitement, warmth and joy for the High Holy Days and the New Year.
The holiday event is a major undertaking, and again this year we are reaching out to the community for support. Your assistance is essential in providing the tools we need to allow the greatest number of people to enjoy the concert. These donations ensure better sound equipment and a larger band, allowing the music and revelry of the evening to reach the far corners of the park.
We’re looking forward with excitement to the seventh year of RH² and a retunr to meeting in-person. As a center for Jewish spiritual and communal life in Center City, BZBI is committed to be being a welcoming home for experiences like RH². In just a few years, RH² has found a special place in the heart of many Philadelphians who now make it the centerpiece of their family’s yearly holiday celebration. As word spreads, more people have attended RH² each year. We estimate that in 2019 more than 500 people attended some or all of the event.
Be a part of continuing this tradition for a seventh year by helping us with our campaign.
