Sukkot is one of the most beautiful Jewish holidays celebrated around the world. It’s a holiday in which we are commanded to be happy. It’s a holiday where we go back into nature to remind ourselves that everything is temporary, transient and fragile.

For a week, the sukkah forces us to reevaluate what is really valued in life – for we are not measured by the walls of our house, but by the walls of our heart.

We at Beit Tefilah Israeli are looking to give meaning to Jewish holidays in a way that is relevant in our lives and we found that the establishment of a meeting place and a shared celebration with all the People of Israel is our way to feel empowered during this holiday.

By building the Sukkah, we are sending a powerful message to the Israeli society and Diaspora Jews that there is an alternative to status quo on how to practice Judaism here in Israel.

The sukkah enables us to fulfill our mission by engaging secular and unaffiliated Israeli Jews to create joyous Jewish experiences. The sukkah’s wide-variety of events attract thousands of people who discover a new spiritual connection to Judaism.
