You Have a Friend (Yesh L’cha Haver) is a registered Israeli charity that has been delivering weekly food parcels to economically deprived families in Jerusalem for over 13 years
A donation of $18 provides healthy, seasonal fruits & fresh vegetables to a needy person for one month
100% of donations are spent on purchasing food – We have no overheads. Every dollar, shekel, or pound donated is spent on fresh fruit, healthy vegetables & food vouchers. Our team of volunteers donate their time and car fuel to make weekly door-to-door deliveries of fresh fruits & vegetables before Shabbat.
All recipients are recommended by a social worker who regularly monitors each individual’s or family’s financial and welfare status.
Before the High Holidays and festivals we also provide seasonal fruits and food gift vouchers, as well as additional dry goods. Whether it is an elderly person living alone, a needy large family, or a new immigrant family, every week they receive a healthy food package from a smiling, happy volunteer and they know they have a friend, during their time of need.
