The Jewish Innovation

What has not yet been said, written, filmed or documented about the Holocaust?
Is there a story that has not yet been told? Is there a story that can touch the hearts and souls of future generations?

Here is that story told through a film.

It begins with the Eichmann trial and its 110 witnesses that took place 50 years ago in Israel.

The story continues with the discovery that fewer than a dozen of those witnesses are still alive.

The magic happens when at-risk teens in a theater program in Jerusalem meet with the survivors to turn their stories into a play.

Take a look:

The Strength to Tell is an artistic and meaningful combination of original film footage from the Eichmann Trial, contemporary interviews with the survivors conducted by the teens, and scenes from the play that was performed in Jerusalem in the same location where the trial originally took place.

The importance of this project rests on the sympathy and empathy that draw these incredibly divergent groups together. From this a new sense of relevancy of the Holocaust and its lessons is revealed.

Come along for an unexpected adventure of incredible significance for the Jewish People and all those who are not willing to forget the past and thus risk repeating a dreadful chapter in world history.

The Impact

This is a powerful story that brings to life a piece of the story of the Holocaust to a population that was seemingly unreachable. Using the powerful medium of film, we are able to share deeper meanings of the Survivors’ lives which then directly impact the present day lives of these at-risk teens. As we move further and further from the historical events that so shaped the Jewish people, we, as a People, must find innovative ways to convey the relevance of the Holocaust to the younger generation. The Strength to Tell does just that. Upon completion, we will be able to screen the film in hundreds, if not thousands, of locations worldwide.

What Will You Do with the Money?

The project is of exceptionally high cinematic quality. The movie, currently in the editing stage is a $115,000 project. To complete the film, including all post-production work, the final $20,000 is needed, of which I hope at least $10,000 will come from this Jewcer campaign. Once completed, the film will be distributed worldwide for television viewing as well as to community and educational institutions.

I see myself as a journalist, filmmaker and social anthropologist. My documentaries have focused on a world many make judgments about, but few actually know. The critically acclaimed series, "The Yeshiva," followed a senior class in a religious high school as the boys reach a crossroad and must decide whether to stay religious or become secular. Earlier films about Israel include:the 12-part series, “Street Corners”;“The Pioneers of the Etzion Bloc”,about the 1947-48 struggle to build the state of Israel (using archival materials and interviews with pioneers; “Uman – The Story of a Journey”,about a spiritual quest; and “To Return Home”,about an American family’s aliyah, move to Israel.
