THIS YEAR IN ISRAEL!!!

Listen to our songs…

FUNK ‘N FOLKLORE is happening in May in Israel with Amavevane Acapella (Zimbabwe/South Africa), Acoustic Breezes – Rahel (Israel/USA) and local Israeli musicians.

We have come this far on our own and now we are asking for your support.

Future here from Amavevane Acapella. We are in Israel making another dream come true. Please take a look at our PHOTO PAGE to see all the exciting things we’ve been doing and the important new connections we are making while here. Please read Rahel’s BLOG to learn all about our story.

We launched our first event in South Africa in March 2017. Through concerts, workshops, food and even a digital recording our project proved that we can successfully break down myths and stereotypes and instead build lasting world friendships! We chose to use music and dance because 1) we are musicians and 2) as musicians we know for a fact that music in itself breaks down barriers, creates smiles, speaks in a universal tongue and brings people together to create harmonious communities. This is one way to take steps towards creating a more happy and peaceful world.

We want to thank you for becoming a part of this effort.

Don’t forget to SHARE this link with your people!

We’ve been making connections, building friendships, honoring Tikkun within ourselves and inspiring Tikkun Olam – uniting communities around the world. We’ve brought our project into the lives of children with special abilities and into the lives of a very diverse group of young school children.

   People have commented:

“THIS is Tikkun Olam. THIS is really it.”

“We have students from Africa and other countries who feel embarrassed about their heritage. You have shown them how to take pride and share their beautiful cultures. This is something we have been trying to achieve but you have just done it!”

“You have shown me how to make sense of my South African youth and my Jewish identity.”

“What you are doing here is very unique and empowering. You are a true inspiration to us all.”

It is our differences that make us unique and it is our differences that bring us together!

Aims & Objectives

1.) To promote lasting friendships between people living in communities around the world.

  • “Tikkun” is a Hebrew word that means to fix, repair and heal. Tikkun begins with the individual. We believe, in fact we have proven, that when you meet someone face-to-face, people-to-people, lasting connections and friendships are created. Reaching out to communities around the world are the first steps we take towards peacemaking. The best way to predict the future is to create it. (Future Moyo) Together we break down stereotypes and barriers. We start to build bridges. We share, learn and grow. If we can find peace within ourselves we can make peace throughout the world. (Rahel)

2.) To keep and promote our culture and traditions.

  • We are musicians who live in different countries around the world. We are in fact very different; culturally, traditionally, in how we speak, in the language that we use, the food we eat and in the way we live our lives. It is our differences that make us unique. We believe in celebrating our differences.  It is our differences that bring us together!

3) To conduct concerts and cultural exchange workshops to learn how other communities live, their language, their food as well as their music and dances.

  •  A very wise woman said, “When we sing we change who we are.  When we change who we are, we change the world.” (Mimi Bornstein)THE HEALING LIGHT PROJECT is about sharing with people all around the world. We share through music and dance because they are universal languages that all can understand. We offer educational workshops to learn more about each other. This is how we grow new friendships and become part of a world community. This is our way of creating a better and more peaceful world.
47 Day 3 Jerry.Rahel.Mbulelo March 17.2017 Joburg

Jerry, Rahel & Mblelo sharing a smile in Joburg

The Healing Light Project was co-founded by Jewish singer-songwriter, Acoustic Breezes – Rahel (Israel/USA) and Future Moyo, singer, composer and director of Amavevane Acapella, traditional African music (Zimbabwe/South Africa).

Rahel Future Studio March 2017

Co-founders Rahel and Future March 2017

The project was launched in March 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa when the musicians came together to share cultures, traditions, song and dance through musical collaborations. Songs were arranged, recorded and performed in a fusion of styles and languages – singing in Zulu, Hebrew and English. The collaborative activities included educational workshops in schools and community centers around South Africa.

Rahel Amavevane at Hillbrow March 2017

Rahel & Amavevane Acapella at Hillbrow Community Center in March 2017

Rahela singer-songwriter whose music is widely acclaimed as “uplifting, intelligent, well-crafted & musically sophisticated”, shared her Jewish heritage by engaging the audience in singing a Hebrew song and learning an Israeli folk dance.

Amavevane Acapella, under the direction of Mr. Future Moyo, shares the culture and traditions of Zimbabwe including Imbube/Isicathamiya music (Acapella), Gumboot Dance (a traditional dance style of the miners), Isitshikitsha (Traditional) and Ibhiza Dance (Traditional dance practiced by the minority “Kalanga” people found in the southern parts of Zimbabwe).

The African launch was even more successful then they first imagined. A year has passed since the African launch. Now we are going to Israel to collaborate and establish new musical connections and communities.

Shalom u'vracha! We are Rahel, American-Israeli dual citizen, singer-songwriter, educator and Certified Clinical Musican (CCM) and Future Moyo, director of Amavevane Acapella, a traditional vocal and dance group from Zimbabwe and South Africa. Rahel, USA born & raised, now lives in Israel where she successfully founded and co-founded music projects and organizations including: 'Listen Like Learn Music" (Barbara Cass-Beggs music program for babies & young children), "Tof Miriam" (promoting women artists in Israel), "Ann's House" (pre-school & center for workshops in Jerusalem), "Tofa'ah" (music by women for women), "Jerusalem Folk" (country, folk & Bluegrass Band), "Songfolk", "Songcircus" and "Kit & Caboodle" (musical theater for children), Mugalive (music & yoga for kids) and more! Future Moyo is originally from Zimbabwe and lives in Johannesburg. He is a singer, composer and director of Amavevane Acapella, a vocal group featuring African culture and traditions; specifically the traditions of Zimbabwe including Imbube/Isicathamiya music (Acapella), Gumboot Dance (a traditional dance style of the miners), Isitshikitsha (Traditional) and Ibhiza Dance (Traditional dance practiced by the minority “Kalanga” people found in the southern parts of Zimbabwe). "THE HEALING LIGHT PROJECT" (HLP). The HLP was born of a simple request from Future. He recognized in Rahel a little light that his heart wanted to connect to. His interest re-ignited a project that Rahel had long been trying to get off the ground: “Tikkun: Songs of the Heart, Prayers of the Soul”- a collection of her original songs drawn on the Psalms. Mr. Moyo and Rahel realized that they share common concerns and goals and decided to collaborate. They are very excited that our debut USA-AFRICA HLP launch was a huge success. A little spark was ignited and is growing a little light (אור קטן) is reaching to become a big huge light (אור איתן) - a light unto the world! This is their "Tikkun/תקון" - we start by fixing and healing ourselves. We become lasting friends and in this way we can create an amazing world!
