Who are we?
International Young Israeli Movement (IYIM) focuses on enriching programming to empower participants to strengthen their Jewish identity, personal achievement goals, family unit and contribution to Israeli society and the Jewish Nation.
One of our programs is the Judaic Heritage Program for the Deaf, which reaches out and provides programming, events, scholarships, and mentors for Deaf youth throughout Israel.
IYIM will be co-sponsoring a summer program for these youth in Israel with Shema, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services for Deaf and hard of hearing children.
What do we do?
Every summer, a full, fun-packed program of summer activities is organized for Deaf youth, ages 10-16, including a sleep-over sports camp (complete with pool!), day trips, amusement parks, water parks and much more!! Well-trained volunteers specialized in sign language accompany the children daily to make sure their needs are met.
The Impact!
Regular summer camps and activities often do not meet the special needs of Deaf youth and this program gives them the opportunity to have a fun-filled summer experience with their peers! This year the camp will take place at the Wingate Institute, Israel’s National Centre for Physical Education and Sports.
