Nes Gadol “A Great Miracle”
Nes Gadol is a Jewish Life Program at Vista Del Mar created to help children of ALL abilities stand before the community as B’nei Mitzvah.
Designed for children with autism and other special needs, Nes Gadol offers special families the opportunity to experience the joys of Jewish life and community in an atmosphere of meaning, celebration, wonder, and acceptance. All events, classes, and special programs are inclusive by design and embrace children of ALL abilities – whether neuro-typical, autistic or somewhere in-between. We believe that the Jewish community is elevated when there is space for every Jewish child to share their unique gifts with the community and to have those gifts recognized and received.
Nes Gadol B’nei Mitzvah classes take place in Vista Del Mar’s Temple and offer experiential learning to prepare students for a meaningful and beautiful B’nei Mitzvah celebration. Study includes synagogue choreography, protocol and Shabbat service content including the Torah service. Students practice leadership skills from the bimah and provide and receive peer support. To the best of their ability, students engage in Torah study, learn Hebrew and Jewish ethics, act out Jewish stories, and celebrate holidays with their associated rituals, blessings and songs. Founded on the principles of Elaine Hall’s, The Miracle Project, Nes Gadol uses a multi-sensory learning model to help students connect deeply and meaningfully with their tradition.
Our new B’nei Mitzvah Sharing Program brings neuro-typical students and students with autism or other special needs, together, to partner in the journey of becoming B’nei Mitzvah.
Your contribution will directly support our Nes Gadol “Great Miracle” programs.
