We’ve reached our goal! BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t still donate. Every donation coming in will allow the Coastal Roots Farm to reach even more vulnerable families in our community. Donate today and help us surpass our year-end goal!

Help us give 40 San Diego Families a ‘Fresh’ Start in 2017

“My husband got laid off and it’s been incredibly hard for us. We can barely afford food and nothing that is healthy or fresh. I worry about our kids and don’t know what we’d do without your help…”
– Coastal Roots Farm beneficiary family

By year’s end, our goal is to raise $18,000 to provide fresh produce for 40 families in North San Diego County.

Families will receive one box of farm fresh veggies every week for 3 months. Your gift will be matched by an individual donor- potentially letting us serve 80 families! Any donation amount is appreciated.

We believe everyone in our community should have the right to fresh food.

Sadly, more than 485,000 San Diegans (one in six) struggle with food insecurity– one in five children. They simply do not have consistent access to the nutritious food necessary to lead healthy, active lifestyles. Vulnerability is greatest among single-parent families, veterans, active military families, migrant workers, and senior citizens, whose incomes often fall short of meeting San Diego’s high cost of living.

Fresh food is a luxury they cannot afford, often subsisting on cheap, unhealthy food sometimes past its prime. Thousands are forced to choose between paying for food and medicine or medical care, housing, utilities or transportation. More than ever, our community must take care of our own. More than ever, you can be the change our community needs.

About Coastal Roots Farm

Since 2014, Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas has been producing healthy, sustainably grown food and making it accessible to the community. Guided by Jewish agricultural traditions and values, we donate the majority of our harvest – more than 50,000 pounds of fresh produce since inception – to local food and nutrition insecure families through a dignified pay-what-you-can farm stand that accepts Cal Fresh (food stamps) as well as pop-up markets and direct donations to local hunger relief organizations.

At Coastal Roots Farm, we believe that a farm should feed anyone who’s hungry, connect to the natural world, and discover a place of belonging. Join us as we make a real difference in people’s lives – and create change on a greater scale than any of us can on our own.
