The Challenge and our Solution
Over the past 9 years, Bible Raps has traveled across the country conducting over 400 workshops to create original rap songs and accompanying music videos and our surveys testify to their powerful impact on Jewish identity.
While we would love to visit every classroom around the country and share our workshop in person, we’re only a small team and haven’t figured out how to be in multiple places at once. But we HAVE figured out a great solution to bring the Bible Raps Experience into EVERY classroom that wants us at a very reasonable cost – the Bible Raps Virtual Workshop!
We need YOUR help to launch our training program for the first round of Bible Raps Virtual Workshop Providers. Your contributions will go toward curriculum design, studio setup, facilitation of our leadership development program, as well as marketing and distribution of the workshop. With the Virtual Workshop, Bible Raps will be able to reach 20x as many participants with our Providers as we can now, bringing Torah to a multitude more eager students!
Why the Virtual Workshop is Necessary
We find that students who are uninterested in traditional Jewish education methods are surprisingly excited about Bible Raps workshops and look forward to them all year long! We want everyone to enjoy Jewish learning and feel deeply connected to Jewish values and identity and know that some students learn differently than others. Our virtual workshop is a great way to engage those students who are less interested or excited about traditional religious school learning, but do very well with our approach. The 5th-10th graders who participate in the virtual workshop will come away with stronger ties to Judaism and a greater appreciation for text-based learning – not to mention an original rap music video!
Too often, we have to turn down schools because of the high cost of travel and in-person gatherings. With this Virtual Workshop we can provide the Bible Raps Experience at a reasonable cost without sacrificing anything in the content and end product.
And lastly, training Virtual Workshop Providers is a leadership development opportunity for our pilot of 15 teachers. While imparting our knowledge of Bible Raps techniques for rap creation and education, we will train these teachers to work with kids in identity development and memory creation. The cohort will improve their skills in music appreciation and come out of the training with an increased knowledge of text-based learning and teaching techniques. They will also be able to earn additional revenue as religious school teachers without leaving their home. These are skills that will travel with them wherever they go.
How your Contributions will be Used
Funding received from this campaign will go toward the curriculum design for the Virtual Workshop Providers, the virtual studio setup so that we can shoot videos to facilitate both the trainings as well as the workshop we are asking our providers to run, facilitation of our leadership development program, as well as marketing and distribution. We will also be providing a stipend to the first cohort of teachers as they are an integral part of making this program work at 10 different schools across the country.
